$100,000 to Help Build an ADU
If your Altadena property was affected by the Eaton Fire, an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) could be an important step toward recovery.
The Infill ADU Grant Program provides an up to $100,000 grant to eligible households to help build an ADU while creating more affordable housing opportunities in the community.
In partnership with Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Los Angeles County, and San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity.
$100,000 Toward Building Your ADU
Each eligible household may receive up to $100,000 grant to build an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU).
For homeowners recovering from the Eaton Fire, an ADU can provide another option as you consider the best path forward for your property. It can be built first while plans for your primary home take shape, or constructed alongside your rebuild—creating an additional home for extended family or an affordable rental opportunity for a neighbor.
Choose a Pre-Approved ADU Design
LA County Planning has partnered with developers to create a catalog of pre-approved ADU designs. There are more than 25 approved plans, including designs from SGV Habitat.
You may qualify if:

You owned and lived in your home before the Eaton Fire

Your home was in unincorporated Altadena, in an area the program covers (based on home address)

Your household income is under the program limit
- Rent the ADU for at least 10 years to a renter who qualifies for the program
- Charge no more than the rent amount the County sets each year. SGV Habitat will tell you the exact amount for your ADU.
Rebuilding your home? If your household qualifies, you may be able to live in the ADU while your house is being rebuilt.
