ReStore Assistant Driver

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStores are unique retail outlets selling quality new and gently
used merchandise while helping to create affordable housing in the San Gabriel Valley.

The ReStore Assistant Driver will serve as an ambassador for our organization by picking
up donated merchandise throughout our service area. If you have excellent customer
service skills, experience in driving, delivery, and retail, with a willingness to serve, this is the
position for you.

This position is physically demanding and involves a significant amount of heavy lifting on a
daily basis. It is also very rewarding, including many opportunities to help families build
financial stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Resource Development VISTA – 2020-21

What will you do?

The resource development VISTA member creates, documents and implements a plan for donor engagement, tracking and recognition in order to increase the overall donor experience and donor buy-in to Habitat’s mission. Each strategy should be well documented and evaluated to ensure sustainability beyond your service.

*Research, develop and document a resource development and marketing plan, including targeting local individuals, businesses, faith organizations, school groups, civic groups and other community organizations.
*Research, develop and implement systems to track donor contacts and donations and develop a donor recognition plan to recognize donor loyalty and/or milestones.

Project Development VISTA, Marketing, Events, and Communications – 2020-21

What will you do?

The project development VISTA member develops and implements new programs, creates or improves policies or procedures, and develops strategies to build leadership and leverage resources that increase the number of families served through the Habitat mission. This could look like developing plans to engage veterans at the community level, designing a home preservation program or laying the foundation for a neighborhood revitalization program.

*Develop sustainable systems or programs that will address the needs of the local Habitat.
*Develop systems to accurately track and record project related data and results, focused on ensuring sustainability and communicating results to stakeholders.
*Develop documentation processes, materials and procedures for coalition activities.
*Explore the marketing and communications practices, policies, procedures and tools that are currently in place for housing services, resource development and our retail operations. Based on the information gathered, the VISTA member will develop and implement marketing and communications systems, policies, procedures and collateral to increase San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity?s awareness and engagement. This may include a brand and best practices guide, print and digital marketing material and training materials.

Family Services Development VISTA – 2020-21

What will you do?

The family services development VISTA member researches and implements a plan for homeowner family recruitment, tracking, scheduling and support with the goal to improve the overall experinece for participants. This could include designing a user-friendly application process, creating a comprehensive homeowner curriculum that prepares families for homeownership, or developing a plan to engage the local veteran and military community in Habitat’s mission and the housing solutions provided.

*Research and develop a homeowner recruitment plan, including targeting local faith organizations, employers, school groups, civic groups and other community organizations.
*Research and develop a system to track homeowner housing applications and status, sweat equity hours and scheduling.
*Research and develop a homeowner education plan and curriculum to include topics such as financial literacy, home repair, mortgage education, etc.
*Research and develop materials to recruit new family services committee members, including a volunteer job description.

Resource Development Internship

Build your resume while making a major impact on the housing crisis in the San Gabriel Valley.

You and your internship are important to us and we want to make sure you get the most out of your experience. You will have a professional staff mentor guide you through designing and executing projects which give you experience by putting your academic knowledge into practice.

All interns can expect to receive a thorough orientation about Habitat for Humanity, have access to our Senior Leadership Team and professional staff for networking and discussions, and receive direct training with the department(s) relevant to your internship projects. At the end of your internship, you will be able to compile a portfolio of your successes and learning and have a myriad of outcomes to share with future interviewers.

We pride ourselves on creating meaningful, life-changing experiences for our Habitat HomeBuyers and Volunteers – our interns deserve this as well. Below are areas for potential projects and/or areas of learning for our interns, and if you have other ideas and we can ethically accommodate you, we will!
