One Small Act Can Help Build a Home.
Henry started with a simple idea and a generous heart. This Giving Tuesday, join him in helping Altadena families rebuild, recover, and return home.
It Started with a Bake Sale
In June 2025, seven-year-old Henry set out to make a difference after the devastating Eaton Fire destroyed his school in Altadena. With a big heart and a simple idea, he organized a bake sale to raise money for his school and help SGV Habitat rebuild homes for families impacted by the fire. His efforts raised $352, which he proudly presented at the Walls of Hope event at Brookside Park. His kindness inspired others to match his donation, sparking a movement to “Be Like Henry.”
A Painting with a Purpose
Now eight years old, Henry is continuing his mission to help Altadena families return home. Inspired by the community’s resilience, he painted a picture of a house rising from the ashes, a beautiful symbol of hope and new beginnings. He reached out to family and friends, offering signed prints of his artwork in exchange for donations to SGV Habitat. Through his creativity, determination, and generosity, Henry raised an incredible $2,165, proving once again that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big impact.
From Kindness to Impact
Henry recently had the opportunity to see the impact of his generosity firsthand when he visited two SGV Habitat homes currently under construction in Altadena. Surrounded by the rebuilding efforts he has worked so hard to support, Henry proudly presented a custom check for $2,165 to SGV Habitat. What began as a young boy’s desire to help his community has grown into an inspiring example of compassion in action. His story reminds us that no matter our age, we all have the power to help families rebuild, recover, and find their way home.
