23 volunteer-driven events, multiple major milestones and homes taking shape across Altadena—all in just one month.
Our work has attracted significant media attention, with KCBS, KABC, KNBC, KCAL, KTLA, Spectrum News and others covering the remarkable pace of recovery.
“This is what happens when all the players align around a common goal,” said SGV Habitat CEO Bryan Wong about the progress. Wong envisions a future where the organization is unveiling 10 or more homes each month. With the partnerships, people and momentum now driving the work in Altadena, that vision is rapidly becoming reality.
The rebuilding is happening—and it is happening fast.
The momentum has been extraordinary in Altadena, and over the past month, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity has been moving at an unprecedented pace to help fire-affected families return home.
In just the past month, SGV Habitat hosted 23 volunteer driven events across four build sites, bringing together volunteers, donors, community members and partners to help turn rebuilding plans into reality. We also celebrated multiple ground-breaking, wall signing and key ceremonies, marking important milestones for many families making their way back home.
A key part of that momentum has been the strength of our partnerships. SGV Habitat continues to work closely with ABBF, local and state government, The Foothill Catalog team and other partners to accelerate the rebuilding process and create a coordinated pathway from recovery to homeownership. The Foothill Catalog provides a collection of pre-approved home designs tailored to Altadena, helping families and builders move more efficiently through the rebuilding process. Families that choose to build with SGV Habitat can choose a design from one of the organizations 5 own designs or from the full pre-approved catalog offering of Foothill Catalog designs.
