“One of the biggest things that it (the Eaton Fire) took from our community is the greenery and the canopy that kind of helped define what Altadena was.”
Following the Eaton Fire, families across Altadena lost more than their homes. They lost the mature tree canopy that helped define the community’s character, beauty, and identity for generations.
Recognizing that rebuilding a neighborhood requires more than rebuilding houses, Green Fenix partnered with SGV Habitat for Humanity to help restore one of Altadena’s most cherished assets: its trees.
Through this partnership, Green Fenix is helping bring hundreds of mature trees back to Altadena as part of a long-term restoration effort designed to support environmental recovery, neighborhood revitalization, and community healing. The initiative includes planting mature trees at newly rebuilt Habitat homes and future rebuild sites throughout the community.
Check out the video above to learn how SGV Habitat, Green Fenix, and Moon Valley Nurseries are helping bring Altadena’s beloved tree canopy back—one tree at a time.
Together with Moon Valley Nurseries, Green Fenix is helping ensure that families returning home can once again enjoy the shade, beauty, and sense of place that made Altadena unique.
These trees are more than landscaping. They are symbols of renewal after loss, reminders of the community’s resilience, and investments in a future where Altadena’s iconic canopy can flourish once again.
We are grateful to Green Fenix for their vision, leadership, and commitment to helping restore not only homes, but the living environment that makes a neighborhood feel like home.
“Having the right partners, like Habitat for Humanity, was absolutely a game changer for what we were trying to do,” said Bryson Reaume, Founder and CEO of Green Fenix.
