In 1990, a small group of dedicated volunteers, each with a desire to eliminate substandard housing in our community, founded San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity. Thanks to our supporters, nearly 400 local and international families have been able to build or repair their own homes here in the San Gabriel Valley and beyond. Through the years, we have maintained our unrelenting determination to help families in need by offering a hand up, not a handout.
Through donations, shopping at our ReStores, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.

Mission principles
- Demonstrate the Love of Jesus Christ
- Focus on Shelter
- Advocate for Affordable Housing
- Promote Dignity and Health
- Support Sustainable and Transformational Development
We undertake our work to demonstrate that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to thrive. Guided by faith, we seek to serve our communities with humility, grace, and respect for people of all backgrounds and beliefs. We believe that even small acts of service can grow into meaningful and lasting change when people come together in partnership and hope.
As an expression of our faith in action, we create opportunities for individuals and families to live in safe, decent, and affordable homes. Through building, renovating, preserving, and advocating for housing, we work alongside communities to expand access to shelter and help create a foundation for stability and opportunity.
Inspired by a commitment to justice, compassion, and human dignity, we advocate for safe and affordable housing for all. We support efforts that remove barriers to housing and help create stronger, healthier communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
We believe that no one lives in dignity until everyone lives in dignity. We believe every person has something to contribute and something to gain from creating communities in which all people have decent, affordable places to live. We believe that dignity and hope are best achieved through equitable, accountable partnerships.
We measure success not only by the homes built, but by the lasting impact created within communities. We strive to foster positive social, economic, and spiritual growth through partnerships grounded in trust, shared purpose, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.
All together now
We have an open-door policy: all who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to be a part of the organization’s work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, politics, or any other distinction that too-often divides people. In short, we welcome volunteers, supports, and potential homeowners from all backgrounds.
As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. We do not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversation to a particular faith-view.
