San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity was honored to be recognized as Nonprofit of the Year at Congresswoman Judy Chu’s 2025 Congressional Leadership Awards, a celebration that recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact throughout California’s 28th Congressional District.
The awards ceremony was held at the Arcadia Community Center and brought together community leaders, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and residents from across the district to celebrate those dedicated to strengthening their communities through service, leadership, and advocacy.
On behalf of San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, CEO Bryan Wong accepted the award alongside several members of the organization’s Board of Directors. Also in attendance was Henry, one of SGV Habitat’s youngest and most enthusiastic fundraisers, whose passion for supporting affordable housing serves as a reminder that community impact can begin at any age.
This recognition reflects the collective efforts of the volunteers, donors, partners, staff, and supporters who make SGV Habitat’s work possible. For more than three decades, SGV Habitat has worked to expand access to affordable homeownership opportunities, provide critical home repairs, and strengthen neighborhoods throughout the San Gabriel Valley. In recent years, the organization has also played a significant role in helping communities recover and rebuild following local disasters and times of crisis.
“We are incredibly grateful to Congresswoman Judy Chu for this recognition,” said Bryan Wong, CEO of San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity. “This award belongs to every volunteer, donor, partner, homeowner, and supporter who believes in the power of home. Together, we are creating opportunities, building stability, and helping families thrive.”
Being named Nonprofit of the Year is both an honor and a reminder of the work that remains ahead. As the need for affordable housing continues to grow, SGV Habitat remains committed to building homes, communities, and hope throughout the region.
We extend our sincere thanks to Congresswoman Judy Chu for this recognition and to everyone who has supported our mission over the years. Together, we will continue building a stronger future for families across the San Gabriel Valley.
