Thank You May Volunteer Groups!

La Salle High School & Christian Assembly Church

In May, the Pasadena ReStore welcomed a hardworking group from La Salle High School, who helped organize and clean the salesfloor in preparation for a new shipment. Despite having to reschedule due to recent fires, the students showed up with smiles and made a big impact.

Meanwhile, over in El Sereno, volunteers from Christian Assembly Church rolled up their sleeves and got to work—thankfully under cooler skies that offered a break from the heat.

SGV Habitat is incredibly grateful to the volunteer groups who dedicate their time and energy to supporting the ReStores throughout the week and weekend.

Mark Keppel High School

Students from the Mark Keppel High School Habitat Chapter recently volunteered at the Pasadena ReStore, contributing their time and energy to a variety of tasks. From cleaning and updating website information to filming social media content, assembling furniture, and welcoming customers, their efforts supported both the store and Habitat’s mission.

“We worked on all kinds of things around the store like cleaning up, updating information on the website, making videos for social media publicity, building furniture, and greeting customers.” – Student from Mark Keppel High School

Volunteers from Western States Carpenters Union Local 213

Western States Carpenters Union Local 213

A huge shout-out to the incredible team from Western States Carpenters Union Local 213 for lending their time and talent to support our El Sereno projects! Journeymen and apprentices came out in full force to help hang drywall, bringing professional skill, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart to our build site. We’re grateful for their partnership and commitment to building brighter futures — one wall at a time.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union recently spent the day in El Sereno, lending their hands and hearts to support the construction of new housing. From laying down foundations to beginning work on a shed, each task was carried out with energy, purpose, and a shared commitment to building not just structures—but brighter futures.

Despite challenging weather, spirits remained high. The team described the day as fun, rewarding, and inspiring, with many expressing eagerness to return. One volunteer captured the sentiment perfectly: “Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity gave me the chance to not just help build a home, but to also build hope. The effort the team put into constructing the foundations to the sheds also symbolizes the strong foundation of a family’s future. Would definitely volunteer my time with Habitat for Humanity again!”

Habitat for Humanity staff provided warm guidance and support throughout the day, helping everyone feel welcome and appreciated. The impact of their mission resonated deeply, reminding everyone how essential safe, stable housing is to a thriving community.

“The staff that assisted us were so welcoming and helpful and took care of us! The foundation does so much to help people in need especially with something as important as housing and to have contributed, even just a little bit, towards this incredible cause is something that fills my heart. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for making the dream of homeownership possible and for allowing us to be a part of something so amazing!”

KPMG volunteers in El Sereno

KPMG

We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of KPMG, whose teams have been generously volunteering with us over the past three months. They’ve consistently reserved build days and shown up ready to work together on the five homes in El Sereno—bringing energy, dedication, and heart to every task. Their commitment to helping SGV Habitat build affordable housing means the world, and we’re thrilled to welcome them back to the build sites again soon!

UCI & UCSB Engineers Without Borders

Over Spring Break, students from UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara’s Engineers Without Borders chapters chose service over vacation, traveling to El Sereno to volunteer building homes. They spent a sunny weekend lending their skills to drywalling and other construction work—bringing the homes in El Sereno one step closer to completion. Their dedication and teamwork made a lasting impact!
