ReBUILD LA

The devastating wildfires throughout Los Angeles County have left thousands displaced, many of whom have yet to return to their homes and are now grappling with the emotional and financial challenges of rebuilding their lives. Many of the households affected are uninsured, underinsured, and have limited incomes.

It takes many people coming together to rebuild our communities, to provide housing solutions where they are most needed and to offer hope in a time of great loss. With this in mind, we have put together the ReBuild LA campaign to support housing needs of those affected across the county – and these funds and resources will stay in our communities.

Habitat for Humanity has a strong reputation and a long history of helping communities recover from disasters, including hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. Habitat is committed to the long-term rebuilding and will work to ensure families, particularly those most vulnerable, impacted by this disaster have a safe and affordable place to call home.

In Altadena there are 9 Habitat partners – homeowners who either purchased homes through our homeownership program or received critical home repairs to homes they own when they did not have the means to do the repairs on their own – and each who lost their homes in the fire. We will offer our assistance to help rebuild with each of them. We will also work with others – particularly those who are low-income – to rebuild, repair homes they own and offer first-time homebuyer opportunities.

Habitat for Humanity has been building homes – and providing opportunities for first-time homebuyers in this area for over 35 years.

To aid current fire victims, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and Habitat LA have launched ReBUILD LA™, a long-term emergency response campaign to assist people with limited means to rebuild their homes, relocate to other housing, provide essential supplies, and restore their lives.

Donations to the ReBUILD LA™ campaign will:

• • • Help those who have lost everything rebuild or relocate, ensuring they have a safe place to call home.
    • Provide essential goods through gift cards orvouchers.
    • Support households whose homes are uninhabitable
    • Offer assistance to vulnerable survivors who have been left without options to afford housing.
    • Assist homeowners who need minor repairs to be able to return to their homes that were damaged from these severe weather related events
