Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) typically range from 250-900 sq. ft. and are small attached or detached homes built on the same plot of land as a single-family home. These small, lower-cost houses have surged in popularity since their statewide legalization in 2017 and can be used as permanent housing through Habitat, as well as rental housing and permanent rental housing for those experiencing homelessness.
An example of this transitional type of ADU is the one-unit project in Pasadena, made possible through a partnership with Union Station Homeless Services and the Pasadena Community Foundation.
